Hard Water
This water issue is usually noticeable because soap doesn’t lather well nor clean nicely off the hands or body in the shower, and sometimes it can even feel slightly slippery. Hard water has higher than acceptable amounts of minerals in it – like calcium and magnesium – for homes and many industrial uses. It forms when water moves through limestone and chalk deposits, and it can leave a heavy scale behind, which is difficult to clean and can disrupt commercial operations that use water.
There are ways to test for hard water with kits or we can test your water for you. If you have hard water, we can install a Water Softener to adjust it.
Bad Water Pressure
This problem can happen for a few reasons. Blockages or other issues with your pipes could be the issue. As could your water heater, if it’s only the hot water’s pressure that seems to be the problem. Your faucet or shower head might also be blocked or needs to be cleaned. The water meter valve or main shut off valves might not be fully open. And if your house has a water pressure regulator, that might also be the culprit. The most major issue would be that a whole section of your plumbing and pipes might be too old and need to be replaced due to corrosion over time.

Inadequate Hot Water
If your water isn’t getting hot enough (or if it’s way too hot) you’ll need to check your hot water heater. Set it to an acceptable temperature and give it time to adjust. If nothing seems to happen, there might be a problem with the heater itself, and we can diagnose and fix the issue for you. If you have no hot water at all, there could be a problem with the thermostat or one of the electrical components in the heater. Try resetting the associated circuit breaker or replace any blown fuses to see if this solves a power problem.
If the heater itself seems to be malfunctioning, we’re happy to repair it or replace it if necessary.
Water Tastes Wrong
Funny tasting water is never pleasant. This could be an imbalance in mineral content, old pipes leeching metal concentrations, too much chlorine or other chemicals the city is using to treat the water, or there might be other environmental contaminants seeping in. When your water tastes wrong, it’s best to stop drinking it until the problem is resolved. Temporarily use bottled water for your beverages and give us a call to solve the bad water mystery.
